The east coast of Sydney was subject to violent storms recently and particularly affected was the port of Newcastle which is the largest coal exporter in the world. Before the storm 52 cargo vessels were anchored off shore and advised to head out to sea before the storm intensified. Three vessels ignored the warning and all got into strife … this one in particular. The waves at the height of the storm were 19.7 meters. The decision not to go to sea was very costly for this captain as the photos show.
The big question now is how to remove this giant from the beach.
